GCMS Screening - How Does It Work?

The most hazardous chemicals have impacts in the environment at extremely low concentrations. The use of sophisticated GC-MS equipment and the very latest Deconvolution Reporting Software (DRS) has allowed for these chemicals to be identified at very low concentrations, typical LoQ 0.01µg/l.

By deploying three complementary steps of confirmation the accuracy of target identification is dramatically increased. An additional manual search facility and specialist target analysis is also available (Option 2). This enables the identification of unknown compounds found in a sample chromatogram by comparing them to an extensive database. Positive identification is achieved by match quality against 190,000 chemicals, helping customers identify contamination sources and understand the extent of the problem they are facing.

These methods of investigation and detection are constantly evolving. Anything new detected by the method is added to the target database of chemicals. This analysis can be tailored to meet a customer's specific requirements and guarantees not only accurate results but reduced monitoring costs.
